How to Apply to Become an Au Pair

1. Review the information for au pair candidates in the Become an Au Pair section.
2. Fill out our application.
3. Our Parisian office will generally contact you within three business days by email for a brief conversation and introductory interview and will issue a 30 euro invoice.
4. Our New York office will send you a list of the required paperwork and documents.
5. We will confirm receipt of your paperwork and documents, and continue to send you information and guidance (for instance, on obtaining a visa if required).
6. Match with a French family.
7. We will issue a 70 euro invoice.

It is necessary to obtain an au pair visa from your home country before you leave for Paris, although a visa is not required for EU citizens. You need to begin the process online but then have your visa appointment in person at a TLS office. TLS is a private company that the French Consulate General has outsourced visa appointments to. There are several regional TLS offices in the U.S. and you can choose to make your appointment at any location. We will be happy to guide you through this process.
